Three Environmental Organizations to Join In Chicago

There are many ways you can become involved in environmental initiatives in Chicago, IL. This blog post was inspired from my personal difficulty in finding a site, or even one blog post explaining different organizations eco-angry Chicagoan's can join. Given the nature of how our earth is dying, it is only fitting to provide this resource.

1. Extinction Rebellion Chicago

This local chapter of Extinction Rebellion is part of a do-it-together movement that uses non-violent civil disobedience that strives to reduce the risk of social collapse and stop mass extinction. Their weapons are peace, truth and love to take disruptive, direct action and they think big by calling in beauty, creativity and joy. This organizations vision is life in rebellion for life. They want ecocide laws to take the planet off the stock market and to rebel together with radical compassion.

Today is the day to act. The only prerequisite to join is to be alive now on earth.

XR’s next training will be on December 7th that runs from 12:30-5:00pm.

Location is still being determined. If you are unable to make Decembers training, trainings are held monthly! They will work as a group to talk about goals and find ways to take direct action to meet long-term strategies for those goals. Expect to learn about your rights and expectations when you are arrested for Nonviolent Direct Action, the different types of NVDA, its limitations and possibilities, the skills needed to become involved and the personal commitments it asks for.

“This is for the forests and the forest medicines, for the trees of wisdom, the trees of life and the living waters of the Nile and the Yangtze, the Tigris and the Ganges. This is for the seven seas, in seven directions, down to the seventh generation.”
